Safeguard Building
There are four safeguard buildings, located around the reactor building. Two of them are protected by the same reinforced concrete structure as the reactor, able to withstand impact by an aircraft.
They house the reactor’s safety and control systems:
- The safety system that injects water into the reactor (Safety Injection System);
- The system that guarantees the emergency water supply to the steam generators (Emergency Feedwater System);
- The system that removes the reactor residual heat, in the event of shut down (Residual Heat Removal System)
One of the safeguard buildings houses the Main Control Room for the reactor.
